Mom, look I have a green lacewing!



Questions:
What is the life span of a green lacewing?
First a female lacewing lays it's eggs.
In 5 days the eggs will hatch and a larvae will crawl out.
After 2 weeks or 3, the larvae will start to to pupae by spinning up a cocoon.
5 days later the adult lacewing will emerge from it's pupae.
What do green lacewing eat?
  • aphids,
  • small insects,
  • Caterpillars
  • butterfly eggs
  • small beetles
  • scale insects
  • Leafhopper
  • Thrips
  • small flies, and other small insects and eggs.
  • But adult eat nectar
How big can a green lacewing grow?
1 / 8 inches        
What can attract lacewings?
They can be attracted by sugar, water, and plants that provide them some shelter.
Is winter a good time for them to be active?
They can survive the winter in protected places but have a difficult time in the cold.
