I have seen the best Maori performance!

On Friday we were split into 4 different groups. Our mission was that we had to go on Youtube and find a Maori song to perform for the class. We picked the Maori version of head, shoulders, knees and toes it goes like this Upoko, pakawiwi, puku, hope, waewae,

First we had to memorise the song before we could practise it. It wasn’t hard for the group to memorise the whole song and Greshka choreographed the movements. Next we made signs in English so everyone knew what the Maori words meant.

After we made the signs, we practised and practised until we were ready. We were a bit sad about not being able to perform on Friday, but Miss Chao told us that we had time on Monday. On Monday after morning tea, we had another practise that time. My favourite performance was Immanuel’s group and then it was our turn.

We got our props and started the song. We were holding onto our props while Greshka did the actions. I felt happy because we did our best.

WALT write a recount about our Te reo Maori dance.
Success criteria: I can do this when I write a recount about what we had to do in my group.
